Australian passport photos: the rules.

The Australian Passport Office recommends against online photo services and apps, so we don't make these. Here are the official numbers to check your photo against before you lodge the form.

passports.gov.au says it does not recommend using an online passport photo service or a mobile app, and asks for dye-sublimation prints on heavy glossy paper. A home-printed sheet would not meet that, so this site only lists the rules.

The official rules

Size35–40 mm wide × 45–50 mm high
HeadChin to crown 32–36 mm
Age of photoLess than 6 months old
PrintingColour prints made by dye sublimation (not inkjet), on heavy-weight glossy paper, at least 200 gsm
