OCI photo, square and under 200 KB.
The OCI portal takes a square JPEG between 200 × 200 and 900 × 900 pixels, up to 200 KB, on a plain light background that is not white. Check the lines we place on your head, eyes and chin, and get a 600 × 600 photo sized to those rules.

Choose a photoA head-and-shoulders photo against a plain wall, taken from about 1.5 m (5 ft) away. JPEG, PNG or HEIC.
Add file
- We find your face and place the lines. Check the blue lines sit on the top of your head (including hair) and the bottom of your chin.
- Check the gold line is on your eyes and the purple line on the middle of your face. Drag any line that is off.
- Your photo is made straight away. Moving a line updates it.

Photos of children and babies
- Under ten Head height and eye position can be "somewhat relaxed". The rules give no number, so a line outside the range shows as a note, not a failure.
- Under one Babies under one year do not have to have their eyes open.
- Children The child must be alone in the photo, with no chair backs, toys or other people. Babies and infants get some leeway on face position, expression, eyes and line of sight.
Worth knowing
- OCI wants a light background that is not white. A pale grey or cream wall works; the background check warns if the corners look pure white.
- The signature has its own upload with the same 200 KB JPEG limit. The OCI upload kit makes the photo and the signature on one page and checks both.
