Photos of babies and children

The US passport, US visa, UK online, OCI and Schengen photo makers now ask whose photo it is. Pick a child's age and the maker follows what the official page says for that age, and nothing more. A baby under one does not need open eyes for a UK or OCI photo, and a baby's eyes need not be fully open for a US passport, but a US visa photo still needs them open. Children under 6 need not look straight at the camera for a UK photo. Schengen photos of children 10 and under use the 50 to 80% face range from the German specimen sheet. For OCI photos of children under ten, a head or eye line outside the range is shown as a note instead of a failure, because the rules allow leeway without a number. Each of these form pages, and the UK printed photo page, now lists its rules for children. Also fixed: the two entries below were dated a day early.

What's new now has a link in the top menu, the newest change shows above the form list on the home page, and the page has an Atom feed (fairsize.app/whats-new/feed.xml) for feed readers. Each entry has its own link. On the evidence packer, the portal menu no longer runs into its arrow and the file name box is full width on phones.

Visitor counts leave out automated browsers

Our daily visitor count now leaves out page loads from automated and headless browsers, link scanners and cloud servers, and counts a visitor only after a real tap, click, key press or wheel turn. The privacy page says exactly what is read to do this and that none of it is kept.

Evidence packer for USCIS and IRCC

A new page puts the photos, scans and PDFs of one document into a single PDF under the portal limit, named the way you type it (for example Lastname_Firstname_Passport). Pick USCIS online filing (12 MB per file), the IRCC secure account (4 MB), the IRCC Portal (5 MB), an IRCC field that allows 2 MB, or your own number; each limit links the official help page we read on 22 October. Pages are drawn at 150 DPI or less and the result warns if it had to go below the 96 DPI IRCC suggests. The file checker can now check a file against the USCIS and IRCC limits too.

A new Rules log page lists every time we read a form's official page: the date, what we found, the rules as recorded and the page we read. It has an Atom feed, so you can follow rule checks in a feed reader. Each form page's sources now link to it.

Upload kits, and an OCI photo maker

Two new pages make every file one application asks for and check them together: the India e-Visa kit (photo and passport page PDF) and the OCI kit (photo and signature). Each step opens the matching tool on the same page; press "Add to my kit" and the file is checked against the form's limits next to the others. New OCI photo maker: square, 600 × 600 px, head 25 to 35 mm of the 51 mm photo, under 200 KB, with a warning if the background is pure white, which the OCI rules do not allow.

The privacy page now lists every field the server stores, with an example of each, what is not kept, and a test you can run in your browser's network panel. Fonts now come from fairsize.app instead of Google Fonts, so no other company's code runs on these pages. A form on the About page lets you report a rule that no longer matches the official page. The home page shows the date the rules were last checked.

The photo makers now find your face and place the head-top, eye and chin lines for you; you can still drag them. If the top of your head is cut off, or there is more than one face, the page says so. HEIC photos from an iPhone now open in every browser, in the photo makers, the resize tools, photos to PDF and the file checker. The face model (about 1.9 MB) and the HEIC decoder (about 1.5 MB) load from fairsize.app only when a page needs them.
